Do you feel safe in your job?
Are you made to feel part of the company and really appreciated.
Do you know that no matter what the hardships or state of the world economy, your job will always be there for you and your salary will never be affected?
I'm guessing the answer is no.
The best that most people have in respect to their job is that is 'pretty secure'.
But that doesn't make you feel safe. That just makes you feel slightly less concerned than somebody else in a 9-5 job.
Because that safety and security is not there, you can never be truly free.
You are constantly going into 'what if' territory.
What if your hours are cut?
What if the overtime stops?
What if a new boss comes in and doesn't like you?
What if you start struggling to pay the bills?
So your 9-5 has not brought you any sort of safety or security.
In fact, it has brought the opposite. Worry, frustration and anxiety.
If you are in a typical 9-5 type job, then you probably have to be at work at a set time, so that means waking up and leaving home at a certain time.
You get your lunch break at a certain time and then leave at a fixed time to travel home.
You'd love to then spend time doing something with the family, but, don't forget, you have to be awake at a certain time so you'd like to get some sleep at some point.
Your free time may not actually coincide with that of the rest of your household but at least you have those 2 weeks of complete holiday each year where you can really relax, assuming nobody else books the time off work before you, of course.
But never mind that because it's worth it for the money you get paid each month.
It's not quite enough to do all the things and buy all the things that you would really like but that's fine.
You could always make some cutbacks and save some money for a couple of years if you really want that dream holiday.
Maybe you could do some extra hours instead, although that is going to be pretty tiring and you'll see your family even less.
That is not a life of freedom. That is a prison cell.
Freedom will come when you control your future and your destiny. When you know that your actions alone are what are going to influence the success in your life, That is where freedom lives.
Freedom is about feeling content and happy with what you have and what you are going to have.
You will never be free if you are not safe and you will never be safe if somebody else controls your job and the level of reward they decide you should have.
There is a way to work towards safety and ultimately the freedom you want.
